TheProjectScientistworks independently and incooperation withthe Principal Investigator to make significant andcreativecontributions to aresearch orcreativeprojectin any academicdiscipline.TheProjectScientistmay be an ongoing member of a research team or may be employed for a limited period of time tocontributehigh-level skills to a specificresearch orcreativeprogram.ProjectScientists are not required to carry out independent research or to develop an independent research reputation and do not haveteachingresponsibilities. Ordinarily,theProjectScientisttitle will carry outresearch orcreativeprograms as well as administration of day-to-day lab operations with supervision by amember of the Professorial Series

May assist in preparation of grant proposals, submissions,publications and presentationsbut is not responsible for generating grant funds.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• May serve as PI for certain grants as approved bysupervisingmember of the Professorial Series.
• May participate inpublications and presentationsas author or co-author.
• May develop, adapt and implement new researchtechniquesand protocols.
• Assists in lab experiments.
• Analyzes,interprets, summarizes and compiles data.
• May lead ortrainStaff Research Associates and Research Fellows.
• Will assist in day-to-day laboratory activities.
• Appointees on an academic trajectory will be expected to commit a portion of their time to developing an independent range of research.

Educational Requirements:

Doctorate (Ph.D.,D.Sc., M.D.or equivalentfrom an accredited institution) in molecular biology, bioengineering orrelated field

Experience:

A track record of scientific productivity, as well as excellent oral, written, andinterpersonalcommunication skills
