Position Description:

College of Business is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Instructor (Term), with the working title of Entrepreneurship Ambassador in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship on the Belknap Campus. This role is pivotal in driving awareness, developing programs, and building the Forcht Center’s brand both within the university and in the broader community. The Entrepreneurship Ambassador will support entrepreneurial activities across campus, revitalize key initiatives, and foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students, faculty, and community members.

The appointment is a 0.75 FTE academic appointment, to start on 9/1/24 and end on 6/30/25, and is renewable, subject to funding availability. Renewal will be done in writing and is not automatically implied.

The duties consist of teaching (40%) and service (60%), which translates to a base teaching load of 9 credit hours per year. Additional teaching may be available, subject to course availability and performance evaluation. The teaching schedule will be determined by the Chair of the Management & Entrepreneurship Department and/or Associate Dean for Programs and may include classroom and/or online teaching. Service assignments and schedule will be determined by the Director of the Forcht Center for Entrepreneurship in consultation with the Dean.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in Marketing, Management, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Design Thinking, and related subjects as assigned.

  • Deliver entrepreneurial training programs, incorporating concepts such as the Lean Startup Methodology, the Business Model Canvas, Value Propositions, Market and Customer Discovery, and Product/Market Fit.

  • Contribute to designing, developing, and delivering entrepreneurial programs for both graduate and undergraduate students.

  • Aid in the development and execution of programs and activities serving the University of Louisville students, faculty, and staff.

  • Revive and manage startup weekends and other entrepreneurial events.

  • Increase student participation in the ACC Venture Competition.

  • Support and coordinate the annual Cardinal Challenge competition.

  • Develop and manage a campus-wide entrepreneurship club with the support of Entrepreneurs-in-Residence.

  • Provide operational support to the Director of the Forcht Center of Entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs-in-residence, including strategic and operational planning, decision-making, and execution of programmatic efforts.

  • Serve as a point of contact and lead for student entrepreneurship opportunities at COB and working closely with senior leadership and key administrators to cultivate long-term relationships and support entrepreneurial and innovative activities.

  • Help build a more expansive student founder network and optimize the student entrepreneur experience at UofL.

  • Work with a wide variety of stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, university administrators, and outside collaborators.

  • Create, implement, and manage educational programming and events that foster entrepreneurship.

  • Research and adopt best practices from other universities with similar centers of entrepreneurship.

  • Implement innovative strategies and programs that enhance the Forcht Center’s offerings.

  • Stay current with trends and developments in entrepreneurship education and apply this knowledge to the Center’s initiatives.

  • Enhance the Forcht Center’s brand through strategic marketing and social media campaigns.

  • Establish a strong on-campus presence to promote the Center’s programs and initiatives.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and campaigns that highlight the Center’s activities and successes.

  • Serve as the liaison between the Forcht Center and other colleges within the University of Louisville.

  • Foster collaboration and support for entrepreneurial initiatives across different academic departments.

  • Partner with community leaders and organizations to create programs that support and promote entrepreneurship in the local community.

  • Build and maintain relationships with local entrepreneurs, business leaders, and other stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement community outreach programs to support local entrepreneurship.

  • Represent the Forcht Center at local, regional, and national events to increase visibility and build partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: MBA degree from an AACSB-accredited institution by the time of appointment.

  • Entrepreneurial Experience: Evidence of prior entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial experience.

  • Local Ecosystem Familiarity: Familiarity with the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Greater Louisville.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Incubator/Accelerator Experience: Experience working for an incubator, accelerator, or entrepreneurial-based economic development group.

  • Educational Program Management: Experience in creating, implementing, and managing educational programming.

  • Startup Experience: Experience working with or in a startup.

  • Training Program Experience: Experience with entrepreneurial training programs, working with concepts such as the Lean Startup Methodology, the Business Model Canvas, Value Propositions, Market and Customer Discovery, Product/Market Fit, and associated concepts.

  • Software Proficiency: Experience with software programs such as Canva, Mailchimp, and similar tools.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, university administrators, and outside collaborators.
