Job Description

Summary

The Department of Neurology has an opening for  a Senior Practice Manager to manage the fast-paced, subspecialty outpatient clinic in the Texas Medical Center. The candidate will manage all components of the medical practice including staff supervision, patient experience, and clinical workflow. The candidate will be knowledgeable in ambulatory operations, people management, process improvement, quality assurance, and safety.  A successful candidate will be able to lead a team of 25+ nurses, techs, and medical assistants while collaborating with the medical director and providing routine updates to Department leadership.  Lastly, will be someone who understands proces improvement, metrics and operationals efficencies.  Is a patient advocate and can work well with the medical director and physicians on staff.

The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information to Department leadership and personnel clearly.  Will have the ability to display a professional and positive attitude.
The ability to work independently and collaboratively across the Department, is detail-oriented, self-motivated, efficient, and strong organizational skills and has proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Job Duties

Operational Leadership.

  • Manages all aspects of the medical practice, including staff supervision, scheduling, and patient flow.
  • Collaborates with human resources to recruit, train, and evaluate staff members.
  • Demonstrates competence in practice and collaborative leadership, communication and professionalism in supporting adhering to and administering established Baylor College of Medicine policies.
  • Develops and implements operational policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure efficient workflow, optimal resource allocation, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors key performance indicators, financial metrics, and operational benchmarks to identify areas for improvement and provide recommended strategies to enhance clinical performance.
  • Attends College and Department meetings, as needed.

Practice and Financial Management

  • Monitors and manages the office budget, including expense control and revenue generation.
  • Develops and implements efficient practice management strategies to optimize productivity and profitability.
  • Identifies and recommends cost-saving opportunities, revenue enhancement strategies, and efficiency measures to maximize financial performance while maintaining high-quality care.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Oversees medical records management and ensure accuracy and confidentiality.

Patient Engagement and Process Improvement

  • Fosters effective relationships to de-escalate and resolve patient complaints and issues collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, department leaders, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of care.
  • Develops and implements strategies to reduce patient dissatisfiers and improve patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Resolves patient complaints through use of high level communication and complex problem solving strategies.
  • Implements quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient satisfactions and outcomes.
  • Utilizes data analytics and performance metrics to identify opportunities for enhancing patient care outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business, and Accounting or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Three years of relevant experience in a related medical setting as a supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with Epic or a similar EMR system.
  • Member American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).
