Summary

The Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Clinical Operations Manager to play a key role in overseeing the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of our clinical services for six of our procedural and specialty outpatient clinics. This role demands a high level of responsibility, organization, and experience in healthcare operations, and will focus on optimizing patient access to care and maximizing the efficiency of our healthcare providers.  Working closely with Medical Directors and Section Administrators, the Senior Clinical Operations Manager will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and supporting processes that enhance the overall patient experience and fostering an environment that prioritizes high-quality care and exceptional service delivery. The role also involves monitoring and improving operational and financial metrics, coordinating resources effectively, and contributing to strategic initiatives aimed at continuously improving patient outcomes and clinic performance.

This position will oversee six outpatient specialty clinics for the sections of Pulmonary, IAR, ID, Nephrology, Endocrinology, and Gastroenterology.

Job Duties

  • Proactively identifies and assesses challenges within clinical operations, including those related to personnel management, workflow efficiency, and resource allocation.
  • Utilizes problem-solving methodologies to address complex issues, ensuring timely resolution while maintaining high standards of patient care and operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including medical staff, administrative personnel, and external stakeholders, to develop and implement solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Oversees the daily operations of clinical supervisors and professional staff, ensuring that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Engages with physicians and other healthcare providers to design programs that foster strong relationships between patients and their care teams, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement.
  • Continuously assesses and refines patient experience programs based on feedback and performance data, striving to exceed industry benchmarks and best practices.
  • Analyzes clinic performance data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, providing actionable insights to clinic leadership.
  • Presents performance reports to stakeholders, including senior management, faculty, and clinical staff, facilitating informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Regularly meets with faculty, clinic leadership, and other key stakeholders to discuss clinical performance, patient outcomes, and operational challenges.
  • Oversees the implementation of clinical improvement initiatives, ensuring that changes are effectively communicated, executed, and monitored for success.
  • Responsible for clinical financial management in partnership with section administrators, including the development, administration, and monitoring of clinic budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Performs regular cost assessments to identify areas for financial optimization, including resource utilization, staffing levels, and supply chain management.
  • Analyzes financial data to identify trends, forecast financial performance, and make strategic recommendations to clinic leadership for long-term financial sustainability.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging staff to take ownership of their roles and contribute to the clinic's success.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience, with two years supervisory experience.
