Temporary Research Assistant II: Three (3) or more years of relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Temporary Research Assistant III: Six (6) or more years of relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Description:

Immediate opening for a Temporary Research Assistant II or III position (title determined by education, experience, and qualifications) is available in the Department of Medicine at the UofL Envirome Institute. The Temporary Research Assistant II or III will be responsible for performing research in the area of superfund sites and their health impacts on the communities surrounding them. Experience that includes one or more of the following is highly desired but not required: superfund site research, documentation, community engagement. Exceptional organizational and communication skills and ability to work in a team is required. This part-time position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create an ArcGIS Storymap for all active superfund sites in Kentucky with VOC issues and include the population of residents near each site.

  • Examine the population-weighted risk of adjacency to these active sites.

  • Review site testing and wastewater testing results.

  • Create a framework that can be used by other superfund research entities.

  • Collaborate with others in the ULSRP and Envirome Institute to gather data on contaminants of concern from these sites, population studies and water monitoring.

  • Prepare written reports and documents pertaining to data management, research methodology, and study results.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, physiology, or related field.

  • Proficient in MS outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint with effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
