Job Description

Summary

The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology and Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and detailed-oriented Research Associate to join our team. We are searching for an experienced researcher to engage in research efforts focused on T cell dysfunction and immune evasion in leukemia after chemotherapy and allogeneic bone marrow transplantation. This individual will engage in scientific research, specifically focusing on the examination of the mechanisms involved in T-cell responses related to graft-versus-leukemia in mouse models and primary patient samples. Experience in cellular immunology and advanced data analysis is preferred and prior experience will be given high priority.

Job Duties

  • Plans, directs and conducts research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
  • May conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
  • May supervise, schedule and coordinate the activities of less experienced research staff.
  • Engage in data analysis from high-dimensional flow cytometry or scRNAseq and scTCRseq analysis.
  • Prepare data for publication and deposition to the sequencing warehouses.
  • Conduct research experiments, document results, mentor direct reports - including research assistants, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and enabling collaborations.
  • Expertise in RNAseq, scRNAseq, ATACseq, and molecular techniques, including shRNA and CRISPR, is a plus.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master\'s degree in Basic Science or a related field.Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in life sciences with a background in cell biology, immunology, or computational biology
  • At least one or more years of post-doctoral research experience
  • Experience working in Teams
  • Strong work ethic and enthusiasm for discovering novel therapeutic approaches for cancer
