Position Description:

The University of Louisville Music Therapy Clinic within the School of Music is seeking a board certified Music Therapy Clinician (MTC) who is a dedicated and creative clinician committed to the music therapy profession.

As an intermittent temporary position, this role will provide music therapy services in the on-campus clinic, via telehealth, and/or in community facilities. Service schedule and populations will be determined in conjunction with the MTC Coordinator (MTCC) and the MTC Contract Therapist Supervisor. Populations and diagnoses served include autism spectrum disorder, older adults, medical populations, various intellectual and developmental disabilities, youth in foster care group homes, visual impairments, and more. This position is responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of music therapy practice standards and guidelines and conducting clinic happenings accordingly, which include, but are not limited to assessment, treatment planning, documentation, evaluation of services and programs, and business practices.

This non-faculty intermittent temporary position is essential to student learning, which involves preclinical and clinical training to music therapy students at UofL. The MTCC is expected to provide meaningful learning experiences and developmentally appropriate feedback for music therapy practicum and internship students at UofL. The MTCC will maintain professional and timely correspondence with students, faculty, and community partners. Submission of student course outcome data, mid-term, final grades, and related requirements will be requested.

As a temporary / intermittent part-time contractor, this position is not guaranteed a set number of clientele / hours and is not eligible for university benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain community partnerships through service provision and outreach.

  • Submit accurate and timely documentation and attendance notes.

  • Student learning including occasional supervision of MTC interns and UofL practicum students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of clinical practice in a variety of settings and populations.

  • Ability to demonstrate advanced competencies in music therapy. Of exceptional note: technology and modern music approaches with youth populations; use of non-traditional therapy instruments such as electric guitar, bass guitar, drum set, MIDI controllers, and basic music production skills.

  • Exceptional inter-personal skills and expertise working with community partners.

  • Outstanding musicianship in areas of voice, guitar, and piano. Experience delivering telehealth-based music therapy and ability to adapt to a changing health environment.

  • Ability to demonstrate music therapy competencies.

  • Requires travel between UL and community sites for clinical visits.
