ROLE SUMMARY

The Digital Hosting Solutions (DHS) team represents the Digital Center of Excellence (CoE) for cloud infrastructure capabilities, providing foundational public and private cloud services to all business lines, globally across Pfizer.  DHS is a high-performing team, focused on delivering secure, scalable, compliant, operationally viable, and cost-effective cloud solutions. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Cloud FinOps Engineer will work within the FinOps product domain within DHS. This role will collaborate closely with the FinOps product owner and other Pfizer engineering teams to support releases of Pfizer’s foundational FinOps platform and associated automations that drive efficient use of cloud services.  The ideal candidate will be able to work with programming languages such as Python, SQL and be able to manage and build ETL workflows and other automations.

  • Technical engineering lead in the design, development, and maintenance of Pfizer’s custom FinOps platform for cost visibility and optimization across multiple platforms (AWS, Azure, and GCP).
  • Maintain and enhance existing automations to rightsize compute, eliminate unused resources and schedule compute instances
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to continuously improve the cost effectiveness of our cloud operations & workloads.

 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • 5+ years of experience in software development and cloud infrastructure.
  • Proven hands-on technical leadership
  • Strong knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Knowledge of AWS services such as AWS Glue, S3, Athena, and Redshift
  • Demonstrated experience with Terraform and DevOps methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and strong business acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Commit to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP, such as Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Cloud Engineer.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of cost control and/or governance for cloud infrastructure and application development.
  • Working knowledge of Atlassian Confluence and Jira is desired.
  • Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
