Position Description:

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position with a specialization in any aspect of cognition, perception, and/or development in humans at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (pending approval) beginning August 1, 2025. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree at the time of appointment. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate-related teaching missions of the department and to maintain an excellent record of research productivity.

We seek individuals whose research complements other research foci in the department, including neuroscience, perception, cognition, and child development (see http://www.louisville.edu/psychology/people/faculty). We encourage applications from individuals with a research program that actively involves underrepresented populations and who demonstrate the potential of attracting extramural funding. Individuals with experience or desire to teach advanced statistics and/or research methods are especially encouraged to apply. At the Associate level, preference will be given to applicants that demonstrate preparation and/or interest in holding leadership roles within the department.

The department hosts two baccalaureate degree programs (Psychology and Neuroscience), an accelerated BS/MS program, and two doctoral programs (Experimental Psychology and Clinical Psychology) and participates in an interdisciplinary doctoral program in Translational Neuroscience. We are committed to attracting and hiring individuals from historically under-represented groups, and culturally humble individuals, who demonstrate capacity to create inclusive work environments, work effectively on diverse teams, and serve the increasingly diverse students we admit and want to retain. Preference will be given to applicants exhibiting these qualities. The university is in the heart of a metropolitan area of nearly 1 million people that has an affordable cost of living, and is known for its vibrant arts scene, parks system, and culinary excellence.
