Job Description

Summary

The Department of Neurology, in conjunction with the Department of Pediatrics, Baylor College of Medicine, seeks a neurologist with interest and expertise in the care of those with neurodevelopmental disabilities (NDD) who may be transitioning from pediatric to adult neurologic care.

Job Duties

The successful candidate will care for transitioned adult patients in the Adult Neurology Clinic, McNair Campus, BCM and Adult Neurology Clinic, Smith Clinic, Harris Health System (all adult care will be in the out-patient setting and constitute 50% of time/effort). There will be close collaboration with the established Transition Medicine Program at the McNair Campus. In addition, more traditional NDD care for pediatric patients will be conducted within the Department of Pediatrics at Texas Children’s Hospital (both in-patient and out-patient). There will also be opportunities for participation in the established ACGME-accredited Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Fellowship program at BCM/TCH. This is a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor depending upon the candidate's qualifications. This will include a primary appointment in the Department of Neurology with a secondary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, Baylor College of Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to obtain an unrestricted medical license in the State of Texas and be granted this license prior to onset of employment.
  • Must be certified, or eligible for certification with plans for certification, by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Child Neurology and in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities.
  • The candidate must also have an interest and experience in the management of patients with neurological disorders who are transitioning care from a pediatric care environment to adult clinic setting.
  • Interest and experience are preferred in the conduct of medical education, including the training of residents in neurology, child neurology and neurodevelopmental disabilities.
