Position Description:

The Department of Biology at the University of Louisville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cell Biology to start August 2025. We seek an outstanding and innovative scientist who will enhance our research strengths and contribute to the teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will have a strong research background in cell biology and the potential to establish an externally funded research program.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a robust, externally funded research program in cell biology.

  • Use updated, student-centered pedagogical strategies to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in cell biology and related subjects.

  • Incorporate students at the undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. levels in research.

  • Contribute to the department’s service activities, including curriculum development, committee work, and outreach efforts.


Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Cell Biology or a closely related field.

  • Postdoctoral research experience with a strong record of scholarly achievements.

  • Potential to secure extramural funding.

  • A commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring.

  • Ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in modern cell biology techniques, such as advanced microscopy, molecular genetics, and bioinformatics.

  • A research focus that complements existing strengths within the department.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage in interdisciplinary research collaborations.

  • Experience in teaching at the college level and curriculum development.
