The Research Technician II in the Department of Surgery Division of Colorectal Surgery will be responsible for performing important laboratory work related to surgical and colorectal tumor cellular biology research. The role will serve as the chief laboratory technician for the lab’s daily experimental activities and will be heavily involved in experiments focused on tumor microenvironment interactions between different cell populations. The position will include a combination of cell culture, flow cytometry, sample preparation, PCR, and small animal (mouse) work. A strong emphasis will be placed on biostatistical analysis to interpret experimental data effectively. Therefore, candidates must possess biostatistical certification and demonstrate expertise in statistical methodologies relevant to biological research. This expertise will ensure robust data analysis and contribute to the overall quality of research outcomes. The position will work directly with, and report to, the lab's principal investigator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervise undergraduate, medical and graduate students conducting biomedical research.
Perform various in vitro tasks and assays (e.g. cell culture based, flow cytometry, sample preparation RNA, protein and DNA from cell culture, mouse tissue, and human (patient) tissue.
Perform high level biostatistical analysis on small and large datasets.
Collaborate with bioinformatics co-investigators.
Conduct research animal surgery, treatments and other animal management tasks.
Perform Reverse Transcription, PCR.
Collect, organize and analyze data.
Coordinate and schedule institutional core research activities.
Organize and prepare queries upon request.
Other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
More than five (5) years of laboratory experience, prior experience with cellular and molecular biology, already trained and IACUC certified in murine model research.
Target Compensation Maximum:
$68,900.00Target Compensation Minimum:
$45,900.00Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
