A Research Scientist position is available in the Center for Cardiometabolic Science at the University of Louisville. Successful applicants should have experience with microscopy (e.g., fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, multiphoton microscopy) and histopathology and will be responsible for acquiring data and/or coordinating use of microscopy and histopathology equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in ongoing studies in the Center for Cardiometabolic Science.
Direct, conduct and organize data collection and analysis activities; coordinate and schedule research activities.
Help maintain records.
Perform fluorescence, confocal, and multiphoton microscopic analysis.
Perform atomic force microscopy analysis.
Perform tissue sectioning and staining. Help supervise trainees and laboratory staff.
Organize and conduct statistical analysis of data generated from study results.
Prepare written reports and documents pertaining to data management, research methodology, and study results. Regularly present and communicate findings.
Preferred Qualifications
Fluorescence/confocal imaging experience, multiphoton microscopy, atomic force microscopy, histopathological expertise.
Master of Science degree in biology, biochemistry, physiology, or related field, with proven aptitude in biomedical research.
Proficient in MS outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint with effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
