The University of Louisville Biology Department is hiring an Instructional Laboratory Coordinator. The lab coordinator oversees teaching labs for almost 50 lab sections per semester across two buildings, holds financial and supervisory responsibilities, and assists in the attainment of research products. The coordinator contributes to curriculum enhancements for introductory lab courses. The coordinator works closely with other faculty, staff, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers and is responsible for the overall organization and support of labs across multiple disciplines in biology. They supervise student employees, assist graduate students with research methods, and coordinate building access and scheduling for teaching and research labs. The lab coordinator is trained on and enforces all safety protocols and ensures that supervisees are trained appropriately. The coordinator is responsible for a large lab fee budget, a procurement card, and associated financial reallocations.
The ideal candidate will be an independent thinker, create strategies to enhance effectiveness and be willing to offer administrative, technical, and procedural support to department members and students.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Biology with an additional 2-4 years of work experience
Experience working in teams
Prior research and teaching experience
Demonstrated proficiency using the following software: Excel, Word, E-mail, cloud storage systems, PowerPoint, Adobe, online video conference programs like Zoom or Teams, and other common programs.
Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
