University Housing and Resident Experience is seeking a Resident Experience Coordinator II (Area Coordinator Housing). The Area Coordinator is responsible for management of at least 2 residence halls consisting of over 400 beds. They process all disciplinary action within the residence halls in their purview. They advise a neighborhood council. They coordinate the selection and training of student staff in their area and supervise over 20 Resident Assistants and 20-25 desk staff. They serve in an on-call staff rotation, providing crisis management. They serve on university and departmental committees.
The Area Coordinator is a member of the University Housing and the Resident Experience team, and they attend all staff meetings and development sessions. They oversee programming in the residence halls assigned using the Residential Curriculum. They oversee an environment in their facilities that fosters student learning and success; they implement student development theory in all aspects of the position. During the summer term, the Area Coordinator is assigned tasks to assist in managing the summer term residents and summer conference programs. Salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Residence hall management
Oversee the residence life operations (program management) in their area residence halls including 1st and 2nd tier conduct cases and policy enforcement. Collaborate with the facilities staff to ensure the building remains well-maintained and clean. Advise an area hall council.
- Staff supervision, selection, and training
Work directly with a Hall Assistant in their area to ensure student success. Supervise the building’s 20+ Resident Assistants and 20-25 Desk assistants in their area. This includes assisting with staff recruitment, selection, and training. Organize staff meetings and meet operational scheduling needs.
- Community development
Implement the Resident Curriculum, using campus partners and student staff. This includes programs, bulletin boards, Cardinal Conversations, and Cardinal Connections. Advise the neighborhood council.
- On-call and crisis management
Serve in a 2nd tier campus on-call rotation. Manage emergencies to keep communities and community members safe.
- General responsibilities
Serve on departmental and university committees. Support departmental events. Assigned summer responsibilities with Summer Operations unit.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field
At least two years of full- or part-time experience in a Campus Housing role.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
