Job Description
The College of Southern Nevada, Division of Workforce and Economic Development, seeks a dynamic and engaging part-time instructor to teach Industrial Mechanical Systems courses. The successful candidate will have a strong theoretical and practical understanding of industrial mechanical systems principles and be passionate about sharing their knowledge with students pursuing careers in this exciting field. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the educational and professional development of a diverse student population within our vibrant and growing community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Primary teaching areas are in Industrial Mechanical Systems such as: Mechanical drive systems, power transmission systems, fasteners, belts, chains, couplings, shafts, bearings, lubrication, among others.
Deliver high-quality instruction utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning styles, including lectures, labs, and hands-on activities.
Develop and update curriculum, course materials, and assessments to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.
Create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters student success.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their academic performance.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information.
Adhere to all College policies and procedures.
Participate in professional development activities to stay abreast of current trends and technologies in the field of Mechanical Systems.
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall quality of the Industrial Mechanical Systems program.
Be available to teach courses during the day, evening, or weekend, depending on scheduling needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field OR a minimum of 3 years of Industrial Mechanical experience
A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in Career and Technical Education (Preferred)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Commitment to student success and diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
Relevant industry experience (Mechanical Systems)
Demonstrated excellence in teaching or training in a post-secondary or professional setting.
Experience with online or hybrid teaching modalities.
Familiarity with current software and technologies used in Mechanical Engineering.
Industrial Certifications.
Experience teaching online/hybrid classes.
Experience teaching online/hybrid classes using Canvas.
Experience creating a college curriculum.
Experience developing either industrial or engineering technology lab(s) in a college setting.
Experience working in diverse multicultural situations
Starting Pay
$40 per hour
