Job Summary
The position is responsible for the financial and operational support activities of Strategic Partnerships and Economic Development (SPED) units, including Business Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Community Engagement, Augusta University Real Estate Corporation (AUREC), and Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center. The position will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and financial performance to ensure continuous alignment among each unit and with Augusta University's strategic direction. The position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans, analyzing financial data, designing, and reporting on multi-year operational planning models, and providing insight and recommendations to executive leadership. This role requires expertise in business strategy and financial operations to guide the growth and success of the unit in support of Augusta University.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:

STRATEGIC PLANNING: Serve as strategic partner for EVP of Strategic Partnerships and Economic Development and key AU stakeholders in implementing and monitoring strategies, plans, and budgets. Serves as a representative on various boards, councils, committees, or task forces to coordinate institutional activities and facilitate unit goals and initiatives. Make presentations as requested. Support and manage special projects for the EVP. Engage units to develop short-, medium-, long-term strategic plans, goals and financial projections.
FINANCIAL MANANGEMENT AND PROCUREMENT: Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and accounting processed including but not limited to maintaining the QuickBooks accounting system used by AU REC. Remain up to date on and ensure compliance with nonprofit financial and audit best practices and state and federal law regarding University and nonprofit operations
BUDGET COORDINATION: Coordinate the development of the budget for Strategic Partnerships and Economic Development and all supporting units with the EVP, VPs, AVPs and / or Directors of development and support and monitor its management through the applicable processes and procedures. Responsible for budget funds. Responsible for forecasted financial plans based on multiple scenarios for all business conducted under unit. Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures and asset management and associated cash flow planning to ensure availability of funds as needed. Oversee refresh budgeting.
REPORTING: In collaboration with each Strategic Partnerships and Economic Development unit, monitor and report on measurable objectives for specific development and constituent engagement, to include gathering and maintaining accurate data as well as being the point of contact for AU REC and Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center for state reporting requirements. Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of unit management and financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders including AU leadership, federal and state funders, AU Foundation, and the AUREC board.
ADMINISTRATIVE: Oversee, direct, and manage the business operations staff for Strategic Partnerships and Economic Development including the processes for human resources, operational, budget, and financial activities.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Develop and administer all policies and procedures for the operations of the Strategic Partnership & Economic Development unit. Interpret applicable policies and procedures and ensures compliance and approves any necessary exceptions. Monitor the effectiveness of operations and support services and initiate policy and procedure revisions in cooperation with the EVP and each leader for all Strategic Partnerships and Economic Development units.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field. Seven years minimum financial management experience, or equivalent experience resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial and operational strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in related field.
Preferred Experience
Ten or more years of financial management experience, preferably resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial and operational management strategies.
Experience in the management of a non-profit organization affiliated with a public college or university. Enthusiasm for working in a developing organization where changes are frequent, structure is evolving, and flexibility and teamwork are necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
A talented leader with a strong background in finance and business management in addition to a keen interest in and appreciation for the values and mission of Augusta University.
SKILLS
Five years of broad finance and business operations experience, ideally beginning in accounting followed by experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
Five years of managing a team of staff in operations and financial management (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) for a complex organization or unit with multiple funding sources including government (federal and state) contracts and an affiliate structure with various program areas.

ABILITIES
Daily decision making regarding the operational and financial activities of Strategic Partnerships & Economic Development and each supporting unit to include Business Development, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Community Engagement, the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center, and the Augusta University Real Estate Corporation.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Pay Band: B17
Salary: Minimum $109,500/annually - Midpoint $139,600/annual
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.
