Job Description

Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented E-Commerce Professional Assistant 1 (PA1/PA2) to join our procurement and contracts team. This position supports the efficient operation of our e-commerce systems, facilitates procurement activities, and assists in minor contract management tasks. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for supporting the laboratory's mission of innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work and negotiate with suppliers to develop and maintain new E-Commerce Blanket Ordering Agreements.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating e-commerce system data, including vendor information, product catalogs and agreements.
  • Perform basic contract management tasks, such as tracking deadlines, preparing contract summaries, and ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
  • Support procurement staff in vendor negotiations and performance monitoring.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for Argonne’s e-commerce procurement systems, ensuring compliance with laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding e-commerce processes, offering excellent customer service.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline procurement workflows and resolve system-related issues.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of procurement and contract management activities.

Position Requirements

  • Education: An associate or bachelor’s degree (working towards) in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience in e-commerce systems, procurement, or contract management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms, ERP systems, or procurement tools (Coupa) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other productivity tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when needed.
  • Knowledge of federal procurement regulations or experience in a government or research organization setting.
  • Basic understanding of contract language and legal requirements.
