Our Environmental Services (EVS) Department is consistently ranked among the highest-performing EVS teams in healthcare. As an Environmental Services Assistant, you will help create the comfortable and safe environment our patients have come to expect. This role is a great steppingstone to other careers in Environmental Services and various departments within Cleveland Clinic.
A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00PM — 11:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Clean patient rooms, utility rooms, nourishment rooms, conference rooms, offices, corridors, stairways, locker rooms and restrooms.
Clean toilets, urinals, sinks and lockers.
Replenish supplies.
Collect trash and needles and dispose of them in an appropriate manner.
Dust ceilings, ceiling vents, TVs, light fixtures, doors, walls, wall hangings and flat surfaces.
Wash or spot clean walls, cabinets, elevators, counters, desks and windows.
Use and maintain equipment, such as vacuums, buffers, cleaning carts, buckets, wringers, sweeping tools and mops.
Clean and disinfect beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, IV poles and other items in patient rooms.
Strip and make beds.
Transport and move furniture and equipment.
Report malfunctioning equipment, unsafe conditions and broken items.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Interest in housekeeping work demonstrated by previous experience or ability to learn
Effective communication
Ability to follow written and oral instructions, use care and attention when using equipment, and interact with patients and visitors in a courteous manner
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to 10 pounds (lbs.)
Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)
Ability to move/transport items weighing up to 50 pounds (lbs.)
Ability to inspect equipment
Ability to clean, operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning products
May come into contact with communicable diseases and/or body fluids
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
