Job Description

You will support data engineering and availability approach for the Robotic Storage Analytics team, contributing to the transition to a more effective data platform. You'll help design and implement scalable data architectures using AWS technologies to handle increasing data volumes, while developing robust data models and efficient ETL/ELT processes. Your role will involve creating and maintaining pipelines for critical metrics and KPIs for software, hardware, solutions engineers, and stakeholder teams. You'll partner closely with other data engineers, data scientists and business intelligence engineers to enhance reporting and inspection processes, with a focus on automation and self-service help. You'll optimize the performance of business-critical queries, resolve ETL job-related issues, and help develop automation solutions using programming languages for data ingestion, publishing, and analytics. You'll build automated solutions to bridge the gap between new product development and generally available tools.
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team at Amazon Robotics. The ideal candidate will have experience with AWS technologies, including Redshift, Athena, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, and Lambda. You should be comfortable working singularly on end-to-end projects and possess high-level proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, version control, and general data wrangling. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll be interacting with various teams and stakeholders. We're looking for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, capable of thinking big while maintaining attention to detail. A successful candidate will demonstrate an excellent grasp of efficient and scalable data mining techniques and the ability to apply data in financial and statistical modeling. Strong organizational skills, scholarly curiosity, and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously are crucial. In this role, you'll be own designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, data models, and warehousing solutions, ensuring data integrity and availability across the storage organization. You'll guide our transition to a more effective data platform, serve as the SME for software data integration and metric implementation, and partner with various teams to define and scale metrics. Your expertise will be vital in building automated solutions for new products at Amazon Robotics.

As a key member of the team, you'll contribute to the development of tools, pipelines, and architecture for actionable data insights and partner with team members to translate data requirements into optimized structures. About the team
The Amazon Robotics Storage Analytics team discovers insights in vast and varied robotic data to help our research and engineering teams understand how AR’s technologies operate across Amazon’s network of fulfillment warehouses. We partner with designers, software and hardware engineers, product managers, and operations teams to interpret product requirements, make feature trade-offs, design, and operate new applications of Amazon Robotics Storage technology. We conduct relevant, insightful inspections and communicate the results through white papers and presentations. Our methods include design of experiments, statistical modeling, machine learning, financial evaluation, and data visualization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, statistics
- 1+ years of data engineering experience
- 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with one or more query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
- Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience with any ETL tool like, Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage, etc.
