The Cardiovascular Technician II EKG Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures, including electrocardiograms (EKGs), cardiac stress testing, and Holter monitor application and removal. This role supports both inpatient and outpatient care settings, ensuring accurate data collection and patient safety throughout all procedures. The technician works closely with physicians and clinical staff to provide high-quality cardiovascular diagnostic services.
A caregiver in this position works evenings, from 3:00pm—11:30pm. The primary work locations are Fairview and Avon, with the expectation to provide additional support at Lutheran when necessary. Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to adapt to different clinical environments are essential for success in this role.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform 12-lead Electrocardiograms, Holter Monitor Hook-Ups and Cardiac Stress Testing, including 24-hour, 48-hour, and 30-day event monitors and/or EEG testing.
Notify physicians, nurses or managers of abnormal results.
Notify secretaries of needed supplies.
Maintain/troubleshoot equipment and notify Clinical Engineering of ongoing problems that cannot be resolved.
Process test results before and following physician interpretations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
Knowledge of EKG techniques, methods, equipment and peripheral devices sufficient to provide technical support
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) through Cardiac Credentialing International
Minimum six months experience as an ECG tech and six months experience in Stress Testing

Physical Requirements:
- Hand dexterity sufficient to handle ECG equipment and Holter monitors.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- May be required to lift up the 25 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
