As a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist, you will serve in a decentralized clinical role, providing direct patient care support to internal medicine teams within Cleveland Clinic’s inpatient setting. This position is embedded on the units and works closely with physicians, nurses, and other caregivers to optimize medication therapy in a fast paced, high volume environment. Our inpatient pharmacy supports both distributive and clinical services across 60 nursing units, 80 operating rooms, 4 PACUs, and 10 cath labs, spanning more than 1,440 inpatient beds. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a clinically focused pharmacist who thrives in a dynamic setting and values hands-on collaboration with care teams to improve patient outcomes.
A caregiver in this position worksday shifts and every 5th weekend.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Coordinate and provide pharmaceutical care for patients.
- Participate in patient care rounds.
- Perform pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and provision of pharmaceutical care for patients.
- Provide general and patient-specific drug information.
- Educate clinical pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students, post-graduate trainees, allied health professionals,nursesand physicians in pharmacotherapy.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy
- If hired for a specialty area where specialty residency training is available, then specialty residency isrequired
- Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) OR eligible for reciprocation in the current state within90 daysofhire
- Completion of a post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY-1) and two years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmaceutical monitoring OR four years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring
- For individualsrequiredto administer immunizations: current Basic Life Support (BLS)Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crossand completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within90 daysof hire
- For individualsrequiredto respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events: current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crossor certification obtained within 1 year of hire

Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
- Must have normal or corrected vision.
- Must have ability toclearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00
