Job Description
Summary
The Manager, Research Administration oversees the pre-award and post-award financial management activities of Grants and Contracts within the Department of Pediatrics, Immunology, Allergy, & Retrovirology (IAR)division. Will manage and oversee the full award life cycle, from application to award closeout. Additionally, the position requires knowledge in management approaches such as management of workflow, quality review, coaching, and performance management. The position is responsible for the work and results of direct reports and will be a resource for grant and contract administration for the Department. Management responsibilities include oversight of cost assessment, budget development, financial set-up, resource allocation, and preparation of quarterly reports. Implements standard operating procedures and ensures institutional and federal compliance.
Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.
The role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement after completing onboarding and training (typically about 6 months). Hybrid employees are generally required to work at least 2 days in the office. Employees working a hybrid schedule may be asked to attend in person meeting and trainings.
Job Duties
- Provides leadership, management, and oversight in operation, design, and implementation of pre-award and post-award financial management activities of Grants and Contracts.
- Directs and manages the personnel of the IAR Grants & Contracts support team.
- Manages a Pediatrics IAR Grants & Contracts team.
- Oversees reconciliation and monitoring of pre-award and post-award financial management activities.
- Oversight of Budgets -Oversees post-award expenditures to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
- Prepare monthly reports using SAP accounting software, BRAIN, Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) and/or contract tracking data.
- Oversight of Investigator efforts and communicate effort with Investigator.
- Provides organizational leadership to staff; provides training and guidance on regulations and best practices.
- Collaborates with Pediatrics Division Head and Division Administrator regarding Divisional research activity.
- Assists the Director of Research Administration in managing the day-to-day activities of a Grants & Contracts team.
- Develops, implements, and oversees programs, to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor guidelines.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Department Specific Criteria
- Four years experience with grants and contracts experience in a research or academic healthcare setting.
- Experience with budgeting, account reconciliation, time and effort entry, financial reporting.
- Must be able to navigate and use financial and accounting management systems.
Work Authorization Requirement:
