Job Description

Summary

The Department of Medicine-Infectious Disease is currently seeking an Instructor to conduct NIH-funded research related to Infectious Diseases in the laboratory of a funded investigator. Particular interests include HIV, Zika virus, and other viruses that complement on-going work in the Section of Infectious Diseases. We are seeking laboratory-based research that has a high likelihood of resulting in additional NIH grant funding.

NB, this opportunity will not accept applicants who need new visa sponsorship to work in the US.

Job Duties

Design and conduct research related to Infectious Diseases in the laboratory of a senior investigator in the Section.

Activities will include working with a senior faculty member to design rigorous laboratory experiments focused on HIV or other viral pathogens; procure materials needed to conduct the research; directly perform experiments; conduct preliminary data analysis; produce manuscripts reporting the research; submit grants to NIH and other funders to advance the research agenda.

The instructor will also work with laboratory staff and students in the conduct of the research and assist in overseeing them and training them as requested by the senior investigator.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in relevant field.

At least three years of post-doctoral research experience in a related field

NIH grant award to conduct the research as PI (e.g., K grant or independent R grant)
