Engineering | Civil Environmental and Geodetic EngineeringThe Ohio State University, College of Engineering is seeking a Research Technician 3 to support research in AIbased multiple horizon detection, continuous edge representation, and multi-frame curve matching using aerial imagery. This position is part of a subaward under Strategic ACI, supported through a DoD/Army ERDC prime contract. The role contributes to the development and implementation of advanced computer vision and machine learning methods for geospatial and image analysis applications. The Research Technician will work closely with the Principal Investigator to support algorithm development, dataset processing, experimentation, and documentation in a collaborative research environment.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Geomatics/Geospatial Engineering, or a closely related field required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree; is required. Proficiency in Python programming, experience with computer vision libraries such as OpenCV, NumPy, and SciPy, experience with deep learning frameworks, particularly PyTorch , Knowledge of computer vision techniques, including optical flow, edge detection, image registration, and feature matching, familiarity with curve and geometry representations, such as Fourier descriptors and splines/NURBS, experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), unit testing, and reproducible software engineering practice experience in Python. Must have Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, Ability to work independently and collaborate within a research team, clear technical writing for documentation, API specifications, and validation reports, effective communication with investigators and project stakeholders.
