Arts and Sciences | Music-JMEach summer, the School of Music welcomes hundreds of student musicians to Ohio State’s campus where they participate in programs specifically designed to further their skills, understanding of – and love for – music. Our dedicated faculty craft diverse and rich activities that provide each student with a meaningful musical experience.
The Youth Summer Music Program Educator assists camp directors with music rehearsals, group work, and sectional coaching. Musicians will accompany all campers, staff, and camp directors in rehearsals and during camp performances; collaborate with the Youth Summer Music Program directors and the School of Music’s administrative team to oversee compliance with school policies and procedures that align with the school’s mission and vision; act as liaisons between directors and campers to ensure that their needs and concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner; and will contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the growth and development of students.
Required Application Materials:

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in music or related field or equivalent experience in music teaching and two years of relevant experience; strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, instructors, and community partners; knowledge of music education pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment.
Desired Education and Experience: Master’s degree in music or related field. 4+ years of proven experience in music teaching; strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and community partners; knowledge of music education pedagogy, curriculum development, and assessment; ability to work collaboratively with the School of Music administrative team and instructors to achieve the school’s goals; and have a passion for music education and a commitment to the school’s mission of providing accessible and high-quality music instruction to the community.

This is an Intermittent, part-time position for a period of three weeks during the School of Music’s Youth Summer Music Programs.
