This position supports performance improvement and financial resiliency initiatives within the healthcare system. The role collaborates closely with operational leaders, finance teams, and stakeholders to support strategic planning, workflow optimization, and financial performance improvement efforts.
Purpose
The Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis oversees financial planning and analysis activities to support performance improvement initiatives across the healthcare system. This role drives operational and financial improvement efforts through strategic analysis, financial modeling, project management, and stakeholder collaboration.
Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis
Analyze financial performance to identify operational improvement opportunities
Develop project aims, methods, and measurement strategies
Support financial resiliency efforts through financial analysis and strategic recommendations
Develop and maintain financial plans, forecasts, and related reporting tools
Performance Improvement
Develop and monitor project plans, deliverables, milestones, tasks, and timelines
Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and document meetings and improvement activities
Identify data needs and perform analysis to support and monitor project deliverables and ongoing measurements
Support workflow optimization and process improvement initiatives
Strategic Planning
Communicate and present project status updates to stakeholders, team members, and leadership
Create project documentation and materials including charters, A3s, training materials, implementation guides, progress reports, and presentations
Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership
Develop long-term financial strategies to support organizational growth and sustainability
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Financial Analysis
Skilled in analyzing financial data and identifying trends
Strong knowledge of financial applications and processes
Ability to analyze and evaluate data and make appropriate decisions and recommendations
Proficient in financial modeling and forecasting
Knowledge of healthcare financial management
Problem Solving
Ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions
Experience troubleshooting and resolving financial problems
Communication
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
Project Management
Experience managing financial projects
Ability to develop, prioritize, and accomplish goals
Knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile and Scrum
Collaboration
Experience working in cross-functional teams
High degree of professionalism in dealing with staff at all levels of the institution
Ability to build strong relationships with business and technical stakeholders
Experience communicating and presenting processes to varied audiences
Technical Proficiency
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Proficiency in workflow mapping tools such as Visio
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Minimum of five years of experience in finance
Minimum of three years of experience in healthcare
Experience in performance improvement, workflow optimization, and project management
Experience analyzing financial performance and supporting operational improvement initiatives
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field
Minimum of five years of healthcare experience with increasing responsibility
Proficiency in Power BI
Experience working in a financial role within an academic health institution
Licenses/Registrations/Certifications
Required
Certification in Lean, Lean Six Sigma, or other certified process improvement methodology
Preferred
Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
Certified Financial Manager (CFM)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Salary Range
$140,000+ depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
Full-time position with remote work expected and limited possibility of hybrid work
Standard office environment and equipment
Repetitive use of a keyboard and computer
Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use may be required
