Cardiopulmonary Services & Neurodiagnostic-(Respiratory)-The scope of the diagnostic and therapeutic services provided by the Cardiopulmonary & Neurodiagnostic Department will include Respiratory Care Therapies, EKG, Holter Monitor Services, and EEG Studies.
The certified respiratory therapist assesses, treats, andmonitorspatients with respiratory diseases andconditions. This includes the delivery of medicated and non-medicated therapy as ordered by the provider.Additionally, therapists provide invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilator support for acute respiratoryfailure. As part of patient assessment and management, the therapist performs diagnostic testprocedures. In addition, therapistassistsin departmental operations by addictingwithquality improvementprojects, equipment, and supplies. The certified therapist follows all applicable rules and regulationsestablishedby the licensure board depending on the state in which respiratory therapy is practiced.
Description:
Responds to emergencies including code blue, rapid response, and high-risk deliveries while providing care to compromised newborns
Manages airways, ventilators, oxygen therapy, and respiratory support equipment
Performs orassistswith advanced procedures including intubation, arterial lines, and bronchoscopy
Administers prescribed respiratory medications and therapeutic treatments using safe practices
Assesses patients,monitorsrespiratory status, and provides recommendations to providers
Performs pulmonary, cardiac, neurodiagnostic, blood gas, and oximetry testing
Educates patients, families, peers, and students on respiratory care and therapies
Documents patient care and communicates information to support continuity of care
Participates in quality improvement, safety initiatives, debriefs, meetings, and departmental communications
Cleans,maintains, and troubleshoots respiratory equipment while managing supply and equipment needs
Requirements:
Associate degree in Respiratory Carerequired;Bachelor’sdegree preferred
Preferred experience includes healthcare, customer service, or student respiratory license experience
Requires state respiratory therapy license/certificationappropriate tofacility location
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification through the National Board for Respiratory Carerequired
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificationrequiredwithin 6 months fortherapists working with neonatal patients
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Associationrequiredwithin90 days
