Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
The National Director (ND) is responsible for driving Wahana Visi Indonesia’s mission and strategic direction. The ND provides leadership in overseeing the organization’s overall performance, and management of day-to-day operations. The ND ensures operational and financial sustainability through organizational development, wise-stewardship, funding diversification, and risk management and compliance.
The ND models a high standard of personal Christian leadership, ministry, and integrity, leading by examples through lifestyle and work relationships, and providing spiritual guidance to staff on the organization’s Vision, Mission and Core Values.
The ND manages a total of nine direct reports including six directors (Program; Technical Sectors; Resource Development and Communications; Strategy, Risk, Innovation and Evidence; People and Culture; Finance and Corporate Services); and reports to the Chairperson of Wahana Visi Indonesia’s Governing Board, with matrix reporting to the Regional Leader of World Vision’s South Asia and Pacific.
Your Key Responsibilities will include:
Delivering results for children:
Aligning the country’s strategic objectives and priorities with global priority outcomes for children
Increasing the organization’s capacity to collect, secure, access, process and use child impact data strategically for greater impact, income and influence
Leading contextualization of programming and operating models to be context relevant, locally led, evidence driven, more effective and efficient
Strengthening partnership with local actors including Churches as indispensable partners, local and national government, civil society, community-based and faith based organizations, academia and media for broader lasting results for children
Ensuring the voices of children and meaningful child participation in programming, decision making, advocacy and public engagement at all levels
Leading Sponsorship for Child Results
Leading implementation of Safeguarding Partnership Policy and Management Policy
Ensuring sustainability as a fundraising office:
Increasing and diversifying local funding portfolio
Leading the revitalization of local sponsorship, returning it to growth
Strengthening the organizational branding and donors’ trust, positioning Wahana Visi Indonesia as the most trusted Christian, child-focused organization delivering lasting results for the Most Vulnerable Children
Building long term financial resilience to deliver organization’s vision, mission and strategic objectives
Representing Wahana Visi Indonesia in public fora, and engagement with the Government, sponsors/donors, Churches, partners and media
Run a Christ-centred, mission-driven, effective and agile organization:
Cultivating accountable, agile and inclusive culture shaped by organization’s vision, mission and core values
Leading organizational development including talent management to attract, develop and retain capable staff
Role-modelling a high standard of personal Christian leadership, humility, integrity and compassion, leading by examples through lifestyle and work relationships, and providing spiritual guidance to staff to develop leaders who embody organization’s values through spiritual disciplines and Transformational Development practice
Ensuring wise stewardship and accountability of resources, finances and people, consistent with organizational policies and standards, and donor compliance
Promoting and modelling high levels of transparency, integrity and zero tolerance to fraud
Promoting innovation including secure, ethical, and context-appropriate digital and AI solutions for programs, operations, and revenue generation
Ensuring Wahana Visi Indonesia acts in alignment with the principles of Twin Citizenship, participating in World Vision’s federated partnership processes
Ensuring good governance and robust enterprise risk management:
Acting as the primary link between management and the Governing & Supervisory Board of Wahana Visi Indonesia
Supporting the Board to fulfil its governance role effectively and efficiently
Ensuring alignment between Wahana Visi Indonesia’s country strategy and World Vision’s global strategy
Ensuring Wahana Visi Indonesia’s policies are in alignment with World Vision’s Partnership Policies with consideration for contextualization
Having overall responsibility for assessment of risks and the development of enterprise risk management planning to mitigate risks to operations, people, assets and resources, as well as branding and reputation
Ensuring organizational compliance to applicable laws and government regulations
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:
Ten or more years of experience in senior management, preferably with global non-profit organizations and/or international exposure.
Excellent leadership and management skills, preferably honed in non-profit setting.
Excellent fundraising skills in diverse funding streams including individual, institutional, corporate and digital funding.
Proven success working with a board of directors (governing & supervisory boards).
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in development studies, social sciences, management, or business would be highly advantageous
Excellent business acumen,leadership and management skills, preferably honed in non-profit setting.
Working knowledge of the humanitarian and development sectors, preferably with a strong understanding of Transformational Development, Advocacy and Disaster Management approaches.
Management of diverse and multi-sectoral humanitarian and development programmes, including experience in emergency responses in contexts similar to Indonesia’s.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and confidence to engage and represent Wahana Visi Indonesia with government, sponsors/donors, media, and at public fora.
A good grasp of political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental factors affecting the development sector in Indonesia.
Able and willing to align with and promote Wahana Visi Indonesia’s vision, mission, and core values.
Acceptability in the country to address socio-political, economic, religious and cultural issues facing Indonesia.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English for effective interaction with diverse stakeholders
Adequate physical health to meet the demands of the job.
