A Day in the Life
Director, Facilities Operations – Asia Pacific & China Manufacturing
Medtronic is seeking a results-driven facilities leader to oversee facilities operations across the Asia Pacific region and China manufacturing facilities, with the role based on site in Kulim, Malaysia. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective facilities operations that directly support manufacturing excellence, business continuity, and regional growth.
This position reports to the Sr. Director of Global Facilities Operations and partners closely with Regional Operations, Manufacturing, EHS, Quality, Finance, and Global Real Estate & Construction teams.
Your Impact & Key Responsibilities
Regional Facilities Operations Leadership
- Lead end-to-end facilities operations across APAC offices, R&D sites, and manufacturing sites within the APAC region and China, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
- Maintain a strong on-site leadership presence in Kulim and regular field engagement across priority manufacturing locations.
- Ensure facilities operations directly enable manufacturing capacity, product quality, and operational continuity.
Manufacturing-Focused Compliance & Reliability
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, quality, safety, and environmental requirements for regulated manufacturing and laboratory environments.
- Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize asset reliability and minimize operational risk.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and EHS leaders to support audits, inspections, validations, and business continuity planning.
Standards, Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Implement and enforce global facilities standards, KPIs, SLAs, and operating playbooks across APAC and China manufacturing sites.
- Identify opportunities for process standardization, operational improvement, technology adoption, and cost efficiency aligned with global Centers of Excellence.
- Support sustainability and energy management initiatives consistent with enterprise goals.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Manage regional vendor relationships for critical facilities services, including maintenance, utilities, security, housekeeping, and food service.
- Ensure vendor performance meets service, compliance, and cost expectations.
- Support contract negotiations and renewals in partnership with Global Procurement and Global Facilities leadership.
Financial Stewardship
- Own and manage the regional facilities operating budget, including forecasting, variance management, and cost optimization.
- Support capital planning and execution for facilities investments required to maintain manufacturing compliance and reliability.
- Ensure disciplined financial management aligned with regional and global targets.
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop regional facilities managers and site-level facilities teams.
- Build a strong pipeline of facilities leaders with technical depth and manufacturing experience.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Regional Operations, Manufacturing, EHS, Quality, Finance, Real Estate & Construction, and Global Security teams.
- Ensure effective communication and alignment between regional execution and global facilities strategy.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 8+ years of experience in facilities operations or related field, with 3–5 years in a regional or multi-site leadership role; OR advanced degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and regulated environments.
- Proven experience managing vendor contracts across multiple countries.
- Demonstrated experience managing operating budgets.
- Travel Required as part of this role (25% of the time)
