As a Patient Transporter, you play an essential role in helping patients receive the care they need. You will provide transportation to and from various areas throughout the hospital, ensuring patients feel comfortable throughout the process.

This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative healthcare setting while making a difference in the lives of patients and caregivers. It also serves as a great entry-level role for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the medical field.

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working day/evening/night/weekend shifts between 12:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m. with on-call requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Transport patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas using wheelchairs, stretchers or beds, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment.

  • Transfer patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers.

  • Transport patients during discharge to the hospital lobby.

  • Ensure proper oxygen levels in tanks before transporting patients.

  • Approach and aid patients and visitors.

  • Verify and confirm standard precautions and correct patient identification by comparing information from the pager and patient wristband to obtain the correct medical chart and verify proper mode of transportation.

  • Disinfect and maintain equipment.

  • Perform environmental and safety checks, identify malfunctioning equipment, document findings and report on malfunctioning equipment.

  • Move and deliver equipment and linen carts.

  • Complete three months of on-the-job training to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures, patient and safety emergency procedures and proper body mechanics to safely move patients.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Complete three months of on-the-job training to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures, patient and safety emergency procedures and proper body mechanics to safely move patients

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Healthcare background

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling of patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination.

  • Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working with some exposure to communicable disease.

  • Ability to move/transport up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.).

  • Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $16.50

Maximum hourly: $16.50
