Job Summary:
Location: Methodist HospitalAddress: 8303 Dodge St, Omaha, NE
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, no weekend requirements
To do range of motion exercises and assist in doing mobility activities such as sitting or walking up stairs.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
1. Exhibits excellent interpersonal relations with patients, co-workers, physicians and families to ensure effective communication.
Communicates with other members of the health care team consistently and appropriately.
Responds to patient needs promptly and courteously.
Communicates patient issues to appropriate staff.
Maintains a positive attitude while responding to requests in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Completes clinical activities identified in the patient's plan of care to meet patients' comfort/activity/rest/nutrition needs and other clinical needs as delegated by professional staff.
Accurately carries out the therapeutic exercise program and ambulation as defined in treatment plan.
Provides assistance with repositioning, turning and chair transfers using correct body mechanics.
Consistently reinforces patient education regarding; pulmonary hygiene, therapeutic exercise and ambulation, etc.
Consistently reports patient comfort needs to nurse and/or therapist in a timely manner.
Consistently monitors skin condition and reports any skin changes to nursing staff.
Accurately assists with vital signs/weights/personal care/Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) as needed.
Accurately records intake/output.
Safely provides transportation assistance as needed.
3. Documents all data collected, in Cerner and/or worksheets, accurately, completely and in a timely manner to provide an accurate record of patient activities and response to activities.
Documentation is consistently and accurately completed prior to end of shift.
Documentation consistently and accurately reflects patient's responses to activities according to patient's plan of care.
Documentation consistently and accurately reflects care given.
4. Consistently recognizes and utilizes measures to provide for safe, efficient, patient care and work environment.
Responds to patient requests and /or relays request to appropriate resource in a timely manner.
Willingly assists other team members when own work is complete.
Appropriately reports all incidences.
Utilizes Universal Precautions correctly and consistently.
5. Assists in the care of the patient by performing delegated activities utilizing the reciprocal process of the 4 Rights of Delegation.
Right task – within scope of practice, according to the job description, and based on the desired outcome, task routine, non-complex, low risk and predictable outcome.
Right person – assess competency by certification/licensure, job description, skills checklist, demonstrated skill.
Right communication – clear, concise, correct, complete.
Right feedback – the reciprocal process, timely, specific, checkpoints.

Job Requirements
Education
High school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) or equivalent preferred.
Successful completion of the state approved Nurse Assistant course or 6 months previous Nurse Assistant experience required.
Experience
Previous experience with general office duties and basic medical terminology preferred.
License/Certifications
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
Medication Aide Registry (MAR) preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Ability to learn computer operations and use applicable therapy equipment.
Skill in communication both oral and written, time management and organization, and personnel management.
Ability to work independently, adapt to a changing environment, and organize and work with a variable patient load.
Ability to understand and carry out instructions, follow schedules, communicate information, read simple and clear instructions and complete reports.
Must be able to collect, record, and report patient needs to the appropriate caregiver.
Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills commensurate with job description.
Participate in mandatory inservices and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by supervisor.
