Responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care and a positive experience for both patients and staff. This role partners closely with leadership to identify performance gaps, drive quality improvement initiatives, and support evidence-based updates to policies and procedures.
Provides oversight of staff, departmental workflows, and regulatory compliance, including maintaining Joint Commission standards. Collaborates across multidisciplinary teams to resolve operational challenges, enhance service delivery, and promote strong working relationships.
Serves as a clinical and operational resource in respiratory care, working with physicians on care coordination and patient scheduling. Ensures proper maintenance of equipment, adequate supply levels, and overall operational efficiency while fostering employee engagement and accountability.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Assists with maintaining ongoing competency annually for all staff in the department.
Supervises staff and holds staff accountable for their professional practice role.
Assists in monitoring job functions and completion of all orders. Assesses and reviews patient documentation, utilizing best practice for better outcomes. Assists with reviewing benchmark data and making appropriate changes to improve performance.
Acts as a resource to coordinate the schedule of the Medical Diagnostic Center regarding all medical diagnostic cases.
Appropriate staffing daily, scheduling to maximize efficiency.
Partners with Manager with the oversight and day-to-day operations of all blood gas laboratory duties and reports to the department manager, director, and/or laboratory director outcomes of all laboratory operations.
Assists in monitoring resources related to operations of the department.
Helps and supports the role out of new technology or workflow processes.
Ensures all staff adhere to infection control measures/practices throughout hospital and in assigned units. Appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by Hospital Administration, Directors, and Managers such as but not limited to ordering and stocking of supplies, cleaning and set-up of equipment, providing patient, student, and hospital staff education, etc.
Your qualifications should include:
Bachelor’s Degree. Education from an accredited respiratory therapy program
4 years of experience in related field with proven leadership abilities
Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
BLS by the American Heart Association

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $46.77 - $78.11 / hour
The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
